Job summary

A healthcare organization in Connecticut is seeking a Pharmacy Intern who will provide operational support in pharmacy functions. The intern's role includes assisting in drug distribution, learning compounding techniques, and engaging in various educational activities within the Pharmacy Department. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy and have good communication skills. Rotating shifts and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required and must be currently enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy program or pre-pharmacy program.
  • Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Intern in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Perform drug distribution activities accurately and timely.
  • Process loads into Pyxis accurately considering inventory patterns.
  • Respond to requests from nursing and physicians professionally.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV Admixture and drug product manipulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes for medication storage.
  • Engage in educational activities within the Pharmacy Department.
  • Shadow a clinical specialist performing daily activities.
