As members of a High Reliability Organization (HRO), every employee should practice CHAMP behavior and strive to make patient safety a top priority. The pharmacy intern provides operational support in the processing, production, inventory, and distribution of pharmaceuticals and related products. The intern actively participates in clinical and administrative functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to augment their education and gain practical experience in their future role as a pharmacist.

Interns are encouraged to participate in educational activities within the Pharmacy Department, including journal clubs, clinical case conferences, patient case presentations, disease‑state discussions, rotations through clinical areas, shadowing a clinical specialist, and performing daily supervisory activities such as multidisciplinary rounding, order verification, drug‑information queries, and patient counseling. Interns may also complete clinical/operational projects in collaboration with pharmacy leadership and/or pharmacy residents.
