Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician—Inpatient Pharmacy Support to assist pharmacists with formulation, preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications. Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in no less than the first year at an accredited college of pharmacy as a student in good standing.
• Maintains current unrestricted licensure as a pharmacy intern in the State of Rhode Island.
• Must possess solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, as well as email and calendar applications.
• Strong customer service presence and verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with patients, families, providers, direct patient care givers, and ancillary support staff.
• Must be able to multi-task and reprioritize as needed, while maintaining the highest-level accuracy and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the formulation and preparation of medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Operate automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) and RFID-enabled inventory management solutions.
• Maintain operating room medication inventory, including controlled substances.
• Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with USP chapters and Brown University Health policies.
• Resolve discrepancies with controlled substances and participate in inventory management.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas, clinics, and operating rooms.
• Repackage and label medications for pharmacist review and prepare emergency kits.
• Process medication requisitions and reconcile patient charges.
• Assist in maintaining pharmacy records, equipment calibration, and a clean, organized environment.
