Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Licensed Intern Pharmacist to join the Department of Pharmaceutical Services across UCSF Health campuses. The role supports drug procurement, preparation, distribution, and clinical pharmacy services for patients and providers, contributing to safety and policies.

Applicants must be available for 36 weekends annually, 1 major and 2 minor holidays, and at least 32 hours monthly. Strong communication, math skills, and accuracy in compounding are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Must be available and willing to work a minimum of 36 weekends annually.
• Must be available and willing to work a minimum of 1 major and 2 minor holidays annually.
• Must be available and willing to work a minimum of 32 hours monthly.
• Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a large, diverse population, including maintaining positive relationships between Pharmacy and Nursing Units.
• Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to compound pharmaceutical preparations and prepare commercially unavailable oral preparations. These responsibilities require mathematical calculations, use of an analytical balance, and knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding techniques.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under constant pressure.
• Ability to exercise good judgment when responding to or referring questions from nurses, physicians, and other professional personnel.
• Knowledge, skills, and ability to perform basic computer data entry.
• Must be able and willing to work at all UCSF Health campuses.
• Based on departmental needs, a lower requirement may be determined at the discretion of the Pharmacy Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical care in support of drug procurement, storage, and secure distribution.
• Prepare and dispense medications and assist in clinical pharmacy services for patients.
• Assist in development and implementation of drug use policies within the Medical Center.
• Support drug information services and participate in quality assurance programs.
