Job summary

Cardinal Health operates a hospital system pharmacy outsourced to support Oakbend Medical Center. The Pharmacist II adjusts and dispenses medication, verifies orders in the PHARMSYS, and educates patients while supervising Pharmacy Technicians for compliant operations.

This role also ensures narcotics control, inventory management, and accreditation tasks are performed, with ongoing collaboration with Nursing and Medical staff. Shift flexibility and PTO coverage are required.

Qualifications

• Licensed, good standing pharmacist in Texas or eligible to become licensed
• In-patient hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• IV certification
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Manual dexterity and ability to interact with healthcare professionals
• Proficient with pharmacy information systems
• Vendor credentialing may be required

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician orders using the pharmacy information system
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient operations
• Adjusts dosages based on established protocols and antimicrobial stewardship
• Educates patients on medications and discharge instructions
• Manages narcotics, inventory control, and accreditation tasks
• Communicates with nurses and physicians to verify orders
• Supports Pharmacy Director in accreditation and system changes
