Job summary

Optum CPS in Colorado Springs is seeking a per diem Staff Pharmacist to deliver safe, accurate pharmacy services in a hospital setting. You will review orders, verify technician work, and support pharmacy operations under the Director’s guidance.

You’ll mentor staff, ensure timely medication processing, and help maintain compliance with Joint Commission and state/federal requirements while delivering optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of pharmacist experience; hospital setting preferred.
• Proficient with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office.
• Review, verify, and dispense medication orders safely and accurately.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services including medication management.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams.
• Supervise and support technicians; ensure compliant workflows.
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance (Joint Commission, state, federal).

Responsibilities

• Evaluates physician drug orders for appropriateness based on patient condition and history.
• Processes orders: entry, labeling, and delegation to technicians when appropriate.
• Consults with health care professionals on drugs and their proper use.
• Ensures drugs are available to patients to avoid delays in therapy.
• Maintains compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assists in storage locations and inventory management; supports formulary decisions.
