Job summary

The Pharmacy Intern assists the pharmacist and technicians in various tasks throughout the hospital pharmacy. Under the supervision of designated supervisors, is responsible for the preparation and distribution of medications and information throughout the hospital.

Promotes quality patient care through proper storage, preparation, dispensing and recommendations for administration of medications and intravenous solutions.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as pharmacy student/intern preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists and technicians with medication preparation and distribution.
• Prepare unit-dose, compounded oral and intravenous medications under supervision.
• Restock medications and supplies in patient care areas or clinics.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections and maintain logs per policy.
• Participate in trainings, competency assessments, and in-services.
