Job summary

Citizens Medical Center is seeking a pharmacist to oversee inpatient and outpatient medication distribution, verify orders, and provide direct patient counseling. The role requires adherence to hospital policies and state regulations within a major South Texas healthcare system.

The successful candidate will interpret orders, dispense medications, monitor patient care, and contribute to antimicrobial stewardship and formulary usage in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited school.
• Preferred: 2 years hospital pharmacy experience.
• Current Texas Pharmacy License required.

Responsibilities

• Interprets physicians' orders for medications and ensures therapy is appropriate for diagnosis, weight, and age.
• Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications per physician's orders in all patient care areas.
• Verifies and transcribes physician orders within the hospital information system to maintain patient medication profiles.
• Counsels patients on outpatient prescriptions and provides drug information to the health care team.
