Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a patient transport professional to move patients between beds, including to therapy, surgery, and radiology, and to assist with transporting supplies and lab specimens. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and efficiency within a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential via University of Utah Health RQI system to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
• Position requires lifting up to 100 pounds and ability to move equipment or patients as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transfer patients between areas by wheelchair, bed, or stretcher.
• Transport essential supplies during traumas and cardiac events.
• Handle IV bags, oxygen masks/tanks, urine bags, blood bags, and monitoring devices during transport.
• Transport expired patients to the morgue by stretcher.
• Initiate bed turnover by notifying involved departments after discharge.
• PICK UP and deliver routine and STAT laboratory specimens, blood, and medical items.
• Use tele-tracking system.
• Collaborate with staff to meet patient and department needs.
