Job summary

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital is seeking a Financial Advocate to join our on-site team. You will be the primary contact for patients on billing questions, guide them through financial assistance options, and assist with insurance applications including MNsure.

This role requires knowledge of hospital and clinic billing processes and collaboration with the Business Services Department. The position offers generous benefits and requires 1+ year in hospital/clinic billing, with 2+ years in

Qualifications

• One plus year of experience in hospital/clinic insurance billing and follow up
• Two plus years of experience in financial counseling or care coordination (preferred)
• MNsure certification to be obtained during first MNsure certification after hire
• Comprehensive knowledge of third-party payers, policies and regulations
• Solid understanding of medical collections practices and contracts
• Experience in professional written and verbal communication
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with billing questions for all locations.
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility.
• Provide cost estimates to patients upon request.
• Assist patients with financial counseling and resources, including charity care and financial assistance programs.
• Coordinate with external agencies regarding patient accounts and collections.
• Assist with MNsure applications and follow-up throughout the process.
• Attend required training and participate in relevant committees and meetings.
