Job summary

Mission Pet Health is seeking an Assistant Hospital Manager in Tempe, AZ to partner with the Hospital Manager and drive operational efficiency, staff development, and HR functions. You will balance administrative duties with client relations, ensure policy compliance, and support a safe hospital environment while leading a diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: partner with Hospital Manager to address staffing, hire, train, review, and coach staff.
  • Operational Flow: monitor daily schedules, appointment flow, and staffing coverage.
  • Conflict Resolution: address and resolve employee conflicts and behavioral issues.
  • Financial Management: manage hospital finances, cash handling, and opening/closing protocols.
  • Client Experience: maintain empathy towards clients and care for pets.
  • Systems & Records: document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.

Job description

Reporting to the Hospital Manager, you will serve as a key leader in our fast-paced, multi-doctor veterinary hospital. As the Assistant Hospital Manager, you will partner with the Hospital Manager to drive operational efficiency and team development. You will assist with essential HR functions including hiring, training, and performance management while ensuring compliance with policies that support a safe and efficient hospital environment. In this role, you act as a visible leader, balancing administrative tasks with client relations and team support.

Your impact will include:

  • Team Leadership: You will partner with the Hospital Manager to address staffing needs, including hiring, training, reviewing, and coaching staff. You will serve as a visible leader and point of support for technicians, CSRs, and support staff.
  • Operational Flow: You will monitor daily schedules, appointment flow, and staffing coverage to ensure the hospital runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Conflict Resolution: You will proactively address and work to resolve employee conflict and behavioral issues, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Financial Management: You will manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through the collection of client transactions, strict cash/credit handling procedures, and managing opening/closing protocols.
  • Client Experience: You will maintain a positive attitude in all interactions, proactively demonstrating empathy towards clients and treating pets with compassion and respect.
  • Systems & Records: You will utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records accurately and communicate effectively with clients and teammates.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • 13 years of leadership or supervisory experience is required (veterinary or healthcare experience is preferred).

  • The pay range for this position is $25-$30 per hour based on experience.
