Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks a patient meal service associate to support dietitians, collect meal selections at bedsides via CBORD, and prepare and deliver patient trays in accordance with dietary orders. You will ensure accuracy, assist with sanitation, and participate in daily responsibilities to maintain high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills required to interact with patients, family and staff.
• Strong customer service mindset and ability to respond to patient needs promptly.
• Basic mathematical skills for simple calculations and accurate charging.
• Ability to safely handle knives and meat slicers in a food service environment.

Responsibilities

• Follows infection control policies including hand washing and hygiene.
• Collects patient meal selections using CBORD on tablet at bedside.
• Ensure meals meet diet restrictions and guidelines and verify two patient identifiers.
• Assist in preparing and delivering trays, and recheck for accuracy and appearance.
• Maintain sanitation and safety of meal service areas and equipment.
• Handle soiled trays and carts and assist with tray stripping and washing.
• Support end-of-day procedures including accurate patient billing verification.
