Job summary

Quail Creek Surgical Hospital in Amarillo, TX is seeking a full-time Day Shift Coder to abstract medical information and assign ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and CPT codes for billing and retrieval. Under direct supervision, you will work with hospital records, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, and ensure accurate coding with RHIT or CCS credentials preferred and two years of ICD coding experience.

Qualifications

• High School education.
• Familiar with ICD-9-CM and CPT coding principles, as well as Medicare and Medicaid regulations regarding coding.
• Two (2) years’ experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding.
• RHIT or CCS or equivalent experience OR CCS or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, responsible for abstracting medical information and assigning ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and CPT codes to the medical records to facilitate billing and retrieval of medical information used by various agencies.
