Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a maintenance technician for overnight support in hospital facilities. You will perform repairs on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, respond to emergencies, and conduct preventive maintenance across assigned areas.

The role requires familiarity with codes and the ability to work under pressure in a hospital environment. Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred trade school or apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• Experience with all hand and power tools.
• Familiar with plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R and carpentry.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a can-do attitude.
• Mechanically inclined with ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of state, parish, and building codes and JCAHO standards.
• Self-directed with ability to handle stress and emergencies.
• Able to work indoors, outdoors, and in restricted spaces for extended periods.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics.
• Ability to safely use power and hand tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs general inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing items within the hospital or clinic.
• Follows up on completed assignments ensuring equipment is working properly.
• Responds to and repairs specialty systems (nurse call, fire alarm, TV, medical gas, ceiling systems).
• Completes preventive maintenance inspections per schedule and documents findings.
• Assists with maintenance on associated equipment within area.
• Performs other related duties as required.
