Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks a Maintenance Engineer I to support the Building Operations department at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. The role is full-time, day shift, with on-site work and rotating on-call duties.

Responsibilities include basic maintenance, inspections, repairs, and coordinating with hospital staff to minimize patient-care disruption. The candidate will document PM tasks and comply with Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Technical School or formal training in facility maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred
• 1-2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, engineering, or related roles in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and performs basic repairs on mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems, as well as hospital-specific equipment.
• Responds promptly to work requests or trouble calls, ensuring tasks are completed.
• Conducts routine inspections of facility equipment and systems to identify problems or safety hazards.
• Ensures maintenance work adheres to Joint Commission standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
• Maintains records of maintenance activities and hours worked.
• Collaborates with hospital staff to coordinate maintenance with minimal disruption to patient care.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and procures materials as needed.
• Provides weekend and emergency staff relief to maintain uninterrupted services.
• Documents preventive maintenance and regulatory compliance tasks.
• Reports malfunctioning devices to supervisor and acts quickly in emergencies.
• Ensures proper handoffs for unresolved calls and timely follow-up.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
