Job summary

PVH Potomac Valley Hospital is seeking a skilled facilities carpenter to maintain and renovate its hospital building and content. The role requires carpentry expertise, ability to supervise maintenance staff, and experience with project estimation and planning.

Responsibilities include completing various carpentry tasks, supervising teammates, performing preventive repairs, and ensuring a safe environment. Experience in hospital settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a current valid driver's license
• High school education or equivalent
• Two (2) years of technical school training in trades and/or a minimum of ten years of appropriate commercial/residential construction experience preferred.
• Must be skilled in all areas of carpentry and general construction.
• Must be capable and skilled in functions noted but not limited to the following.
• Must be familiar with tools, identification and use, related building codes, general mechanical repairs, machine operations and preventive maintenance gained through direct contact in a maintenance shop or maintenance activities. Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing all types of general carpentry work, including, but not limited to, sheetrock work, framing, spackling/taping, suspended ceilings, masonry, flooring, roofing, cabinetry, door hardware and locksmithing.
• Supervises general maintenance workers by allocating and coordinating work flow, training, and advising, in more complex repair work throughout the hospital.
• Provides preventive and corrective repair work throughout the hospital.
• Has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms. This position is aware that they are not responsible for medications, and they should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional.
• Performs other duties as directed
