Job summary

ThedaCare is seeking a skilled Carpenter to construct, repair and maintain wooden structures in hospital buildings, using hand and power tools according to written and oral instructions. The position is based at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton, Appleton, Wisconsin, with a 40-hour work week on day shift.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, measuring precisely, installing sheetrock, tile and Formica, and performing related carpentry tasks in a health-care setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Courses in shop, blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, carpentry and woodworking preferred.
• At least three years in comparable work is required.
• Ability to use woodworking power tools such as a planer, saws and drills.
• Carpenter’s hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, files, squares and calipers, blueprints, shop drawings.

Responsibilities

• Construct, repair and maintain wooden structures in hospital buildings using hand and power tools.
• Calculates quantity of materials needed and selects stock, tools and supplies for repairs.
• Repairs partitions, doors, windows, floors, furniture and building framework.
• Reads blueprints and specifications; measures and marks to guide cutting operations.
• Installs sheetrock, linoleum, vinyl and asphalt tile; cuts and installs Formica as required.
• May replace windows, ceiling tile, concrete forms, mixing and placing concrete and patching surfaces.
