Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a full-time Locksmith for the Day shift (Mon-Fri) in the New Bed Tower - Structural area. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, repairing locks and keys, and maintaining security records. Preference given to applicants with hospital experience and a valid NY driver license.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time locksmithing experience or equivalent training. Apprenticeship-trained or equivalent accepted.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from plans, diagrams and specifications.
• Ability to estimate labor and materials for locksmith work.
• Ability to supervise and train others as required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain locks and keys, and install and service lock systems.
• Open locks and replace or repair defective components.
• Manufacture keys and maintain key records to prevent duplication.
• Establish and maintain lock and key records and security procedures.
• Perform related carpentry tasks as needed.
