Job summary

Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital is seeking a dedicated Laboratory professional to perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests across multiple departments. The role supports accurate patient diagnoses and requires proficiency with LIS, specimen handling, and quality control.

The position is full-time and based in a hospital laboratory, with responsibilities spanning blood bank, serology, coagulation, urinalysis, hematology, chemistry, and microbiology.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates degree in a chemical, biological or physical science or medical technology with at least one year of laboratory training or experience.
• Experience: At least one-year hospital work experience preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: MLT (ASCP); CLT (NCA), ASCP eligible, or equivalent.
• Software/Hardware: Functional experience with common laboratory analyzers and laboratory computer systems, including PCs.

Responsibilities

• Shall maintain proficiency and perform diagnostic tests in assigned areas of the laboratory to include: Blood bank, Serology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Hematology, Chemistry, and Microbiology.
• Performs diagnostic tests in accordance with laboratory procedures and policies.
• Communicates with medical staff and/or office staff as needed and documents communications appropriately.
• Receives and processes specimens from inpatients and outpatients.
• Evaluates specimens for acceptability for proper testing and investigates problems with unacceptable specimens.
• Ensures test results correlate with LIS history and investigates delta checks.
• Accurately enters results into the LIS and reviews manually entered results.
• Effectively communicates results to appropriate personnel depending on priority.
• Performs quality control and maintenance checks on equipment; trains staff.
