Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to analyze specimens following established procedures and ensure quality across analytic stages. You may supervise/co-supervise staff and contribute to competency evaluations while solving problems independently.

Responsibilities include performing routine and special analyses, documenting results, and actively participating in quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent experience.
• Current NY State license as Clinical Laboratory Technologist or limited permit is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine analysis of specimens according to established protocol.
• Recognizes abnormal or inconsistent test results and follows through per protocol.
• Follows protocol for critical/panic values.
• Demonstrates knowledge of test theory and correlates lab data.
• Reviews co-worker reports for release where appropriate.
• Maintains two-department competency and performs testing independently with minimal supervision.
• Analyzes quality control material per laboratory policy.
• Troubleshoots instrument/reagent problems and communicates with service/vendors to resolve issues.
• Participates in quality improvement projects and supports other staff as needed.
• Under supervision, assists with data collection for quality management programs.
