Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Utility Worker to maintain kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils in a fast-paced health care food service environment. The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to HACCP policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include washing dishes by hand or machine, cleaning surfaces, removing trash, moving supplies, and attending allergy and food-borne illness in-service trainings.

Qualifications

• The incumbent must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Maintains honesty, ethics and professionalism in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes by hand or in a dishwashing machine.
• Wash work tables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks.
• Sweep, mop, clean, and vacuum floors.
• Remove trash to designated areas.
• Transfer supplies and equipment within storage and work areas.
• Clean equipment using chemicals to maintain sanitary standards.
• Attend allergy and food-borne illness in-service training.
• Comply with HACCP policies and procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings and trainings.
