Job summary

Mount Carmel is hiring a full-time cook for day shift to prepare meals for patients, cafeteria, and catering services. You will obtain ingredients, plan cooking schedules with supervisors and dietitians, and ensure timely meal preparation while following dietary guidelines.

The role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and strong customer service. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic math, English proficiency, and a food handlers certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or 1-year equivalent experience in commercial food service.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication.
• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Food handlers certification within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in hospital, large institution, or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of large quantity cooking and recipe-based prep.
• Ability to complete assignments under direct supervision.
• Ability to work well in a team and maintain good attention to detail.
• Maintain a neat appearance.

Responsibilities

• Obtain ingredients from storage areas for recipes when necessary.
• Lift and carry medium to heavy food and equipment.
• Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food is ready on time.
• Consult with dietitians regarding modified diets and use of reviews menu and special orders.
• All other duties as assigned.
