Job summary

The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center in Riverside is seeking an Insurance Billing Clerk to join the Patient Account-Billing team. The role requires knowledge of billing for Medi-Cal, Managed Care, Commercial and other payors and understanding authorization requirements for government and non-government payors.

The ideal candidate will be detail- and goal-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience in hospital

Qualifications

• Bilingual is preferred.
• Hospital billing experience required or preferred.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency is required.
• At least 3 years of hospital billing and/or collections experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
• Experience with Epic patient accounting system is preferred.
• Medical Billing certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify medical insurance coverage and access/update patient account information.
• Prepare billing information for third party intermediaries and input data into the system.
• Enter data from forms into the computer terminal and process billing records.
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and correct billing information as needed.
• Check insurance forms for completeness and accuracy for claims filing and payment.
• Contact insurance carriers to obtain authorization and verify eligibility and coverage.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding account status and billing procedures.
• Identify and correct arithmetic or coding errors in accounts.
