Job summary

Advocate Health's Milwaukee, WI hospital pharmacy seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing, labeling and distributing medications in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

This full-time role (36 hours/week) requires a high school diploma, state technician registration, and certification within 18 months, with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• State pharmacy technician registration required.
• Certification as CPhT or ExCPT within 18 months from start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacists with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Select, prepare, and label medications for patients, including hazardous and controlled substances.
• Support medication distribution and inventory tasks.
• Screen calls and route using proper etiquette.
• Assist in procurement, stock control, and outdate checks.
• Document removal, stocking, and wasting of controlled substances as applicable.
• Nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture per USP where applicable.
• Ensure storage areas comply with policies and safety standards.
• Record patient demographics and insurance data for labeling and billing.
• Participate in quality improvement and training as needed.
