Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant Specialist I for a 20-hour-per-week role in Chicago at the Prentice location. The position is a non-exempt hourly role with weekend and holiday work, paying $21.65 per hour and offering benefits for new employees.

Under the supervision of Environmental Services, you will help orient new staff, perform general and heavy cleaning in ORs, offices, and patient rooms, and operate cleaning equipment in accordance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience
• Ability to understand oral instructions

Responsibilities

• Vacuums carpeted surfaces and damp mops hard floors.
• Assists the supervisor in orientating new housekeeping assistants to the department.
• Performs general and heavy cleaning in offices, patient rooms, labs, and public areas with hospital-approved chemicals.
• Cleans windows, trash bins, and waste containers; replaces supplies as needed.
• Cleans blood and body fluids; maintains orderly areas.
• Moves and arranges furniture; assists in freight movement.
• Operates cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums; applies floor finishes.
• Maintains equipment and storage areas neat and orderly.
• Follows Bed Tracking system procedures for bed status updates.
