Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Dubuque, IA seeks a full-time Housekeeper for day shift. The role involves maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment, including patient rooms, discharge units, offices, and ancillary areas, following routine cleaning procedures and isolation cleaning as required.

You will work with hospital staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality control, while supporting patients, the public, and colleagues with courteous, professional service.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial and cleaning experience preferred.
• Must be able to become familiar with use and care of housekeeping chemicals and equipment.
• Must be able to work with and accept varying demands of the patient, public and other employees.
• Able to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with all members of the health care team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean patient rooms and discharge units to meet hospital standards. Empties trash and linen containers, high dusts, damp mops, cleans bathroom, makes bed, damp wipes all horizontal surfaces including over-bed table.
• Maintain clean office/ancillary areas. Audits are done frequently for Quality Control.
• Has knowledge of and can differentiate between isolations. Performs special isolation cleaning according to established procedures as required.
• Maintain a clean cart, equipment, and janitor closet/storage areas.
• Replenish supplies of soap, tissues, towels, disposable items and other items as needed.
• Report the need for repair of equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures to appropriate person.
