Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs) are essential to maintaining smooth daily operations, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring timely communication across the unit.Mission for PositionThe Health Unit Coordinator supports the Medical/Surgical team by managing departmental communication, maintaining accurate medical records, and performing essential clerical and unit support tasks that enhance patient care efficiency and team coordination.Position SummaryThe Health Unit Coordinator supports the Medical/Surgical team by managing essential clerical and communication tasks that keep the unit running smoothly. This includes answering phones and call lights, assisting patients and visitors, maintaining electronic health records, processing provider orders, and organizing charts and supplies. The HUC ensures timely communication between staff and departments and helps with basic unit support tasks such as restocking and preparing rooms. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, customer-service focused, and comfortable working in a busy hospital environment.Position TypeThis is a part-time position with 12-hour weekday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The schedule includes every third weekend, with 10-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Participation in a rotating holiday schedule is also required; holiday shifts are 10 hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredIdeal CandidateMedical Secretary Certificate or Health Unit Coordinator training preferredStrong organizational, communication, and multitasking skillsComputer proficiencyAbility to work effectively in fast-paced, emergent, and non-emergent settingsBenefitsLakewood Health System is growing and looking for great people to join our mission of providing personalized, quality healthcare for a lifetime.
