Job summary

Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, CT is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain year-round landscapes across hospital properties. You will operate grounds equipment, perform maintenance, and support safety and accessibility for patients, staff, and visitors.

The role requires a high school diploma, a CT driver’s license, and landscaping experience; occasional extended hours and snow removal are included; competitive benefits and a wage range of $18.36–$27.55 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and understand instructions.
• Current Connecticut Driver's License.
• One to three years landscaping experience.
• Familiar with small engine operation and repair.
• Possess good mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work extended hours at times.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine landscape maintenance (mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, cleanup) with appropriate equipment.
• Performs snow removal (shoveling, plowing, treatments) and participates in on-call winter duties.
• Inspects and maintains equipment; reports issues to supervisor to minimize downtime.
• Installs, maintains and renovates turf, trees, planting beds and hardscape features.
• Operates trucks, tractors, mowers and power tools safely; uses PPE at all times.
• Supports Facilities Management with painting, cleaning, moving furniture or supplies.
• Performs related tasks to complete projects within established timeframes.
