Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Food Service Worker to support meal preparation and service across on-site food stations. The role involves reading recipes, weighing and preparing food, stocking stations, serving guests, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards are met.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED (preferred) and offers a hiring range of $18.00–$29.74 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, quality and safety standards.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Reads recipes and product directions.
• Operates kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, season and knead.
• Assists in hot/cold food preparation and proper storage.
• Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
• Keeps records and requisitions for supplies/equipment.
• Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment per rules.
• Sets up stations with entrées, soups, salads, breads, condiments and utensils.
• Provides general stocking duties and serves/replenishes food at counters and steam tables.
• Interacts with customers and assists with opening containers as requested.
• Attends allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
• Reports accidents and participates in safety meetings and training.
• May work on a tray line to distribute food.
