Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring for a Full-time Food Service Associate at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee. Hours are 0630–1500 with every other weekend and some holidays; 40 hours/week. No formal education required and no prior experience necessary.

Expect patient meal tray assembly, delivery, cafeteria service, basic cash handling, and food preparation per diet guidelines. The role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and teamwork in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge in food service within hospital/food service setting.
• Good reading and written communication abilities.
• Solid customer service and communication skills for internal/external customers.
• Intermediate computer skills and able to use email/internet.

Responsibilities

• Assembles patient and mobile meal trays according to approved diet guidelines and portions while meeting productivity standards.
• Loads and transports food carts and delivers meals to patient rooms per procedures.
• May serve visitors in the cafeteria and operate cash register, handling cash and daily reports.
• Performs cleaning duties in kitchen and cafeteria and washes pots, pans and dishes.
• Assists with catering events and special days/promotions, including decor and daily specials presentation.
• Prepares snacks, beverages, sandwiches and other patient items per recipes and diet guidelines.
• Prepares, arranges and replenishes supplies in retail and kitchen areas; maintains garnishing and presentation.
• Delivers and stocks meals to nursing units, lounges, and ER; follows established procedures and productivity standards.
• Monitors temperatures and uses safe food handling techniques to prevent foodborne illness.
