Job summary

DCH Health System is seeking an Environmental Services technician to clean and service hospital areas following established procedures. You will buff, strip, scrub, wax floors, vacuum carpets, and maintain clean corridors and patient areas.

The role involves operating cleaning equipment, supporting linen and waste management, and ensuring safety protocols, including medication storage security when required. Training for new hires is provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleans areas of assignment following EVS cleaning procedures and/or other procedures as appropriate.
• Maintain floors: buff, strip, scrub, wax, shampoo carpet, spot mop, vacuum and dust mop.
• Perform assigned project work such as washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, patient televisions, and windows; apply finishes to floors.
• Strip and wax specified square feet per shift or scrub larger areas on no-wax floors.
• Ensure wet floor signs are visible in work areas.
• Handle waste, linen distribution, furniture movement, and equipment in a safe, orderly manner.
• Operate cleaning equipment (buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums) and report needed repairs to supervisors.
• Maintain security in medication storage areas when assigned and alert staff if medications are found unsecured.
• Provide training for new hires on unit procedures and EVS standards.
