Job summary

Universal Health Services, the parent company of Doctors Hospital of Laredo in Laredo, TX, seeks an experienced Facility Maintenance Engineer to manage plant operations, maintenance, and monitoring of mechanical, electrical, and related systems in a 24/7 hospital environment.

The role requires on-call availability after hours and rotating weekend duties. Candidates should have 1–3 years in hospital maintenance, be able to lift 50 lbs, and work independently with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years experience in hospital maintenance or construction trades.
• Ability to perform basic maintenance work.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Good written and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in a hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Make equipment and building rounds; log data on systems.
• Respond to callbacks and remedy issues; escalate as needed.
• Direct vendors for routine work areas and coordinate repairs.
• Collaborate with operations on joint departmental efforts.
• Promptly respond to and close work orders and tickets.
• Record machinery history and report problems to supervisor.
