Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Laredo in Laredo, TX, is a 183-bed acute care facility delivering a wide range of medical services. The Facility Maintenance Engineer role supports plant operations, maintenance, and monitoring of hospital systems 24/7.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Engineering/Plant Operations, this on-call, after-hours position requires responding to alarms, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring safe operation of electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED is required.
  • 1-3 years of hospital maintenance or construction trades experience.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance work and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Make equipment and building rounds; log data on mechanical, electrical, and other systems.
  • Respond to call backs, remedy issues, and escalate to supervisor as needed.
  • Direct vendors to work areas; facilitate repairs and installations.
  • Coordinate with operations on joint departmental efforts.
  • Close work orders and tickets promptly; document machinery history.
  • Operate, monitor, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and building monitoring systems per policy.

Job Summary

The Facility Maintenance Engineer, working under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Engineering/Plant Operations and is responsible for the plant operations, maintenance, and monitoring of the Hospital mechanical, electrical, and supported facilities. The Hospital is a 24x7x365 manned facility. This is an experienced level position in a 24/7 Health care facility. The right person for this position must be able to be on call after hours and on weekends on a rotating basis.

Essential Job Functions
  • Make equipment and building rounds. Record and log data on all mechanical, electrical, equipment, and other systems.
  • Respond to call backs and remedy issue/s. If needed escape findings to Facilities Supervisor.
  • Direct electrical, mechanical, and construction facilities vendors to routine work area/s. Facilitate repairs and installations as needed.
  • Crossover work with the operations team on joint departmental efforts.
  • Promptly respond and close work orders and tickets as assigned.
  • Accurately record machinery history and rapidly report any problems with machinery to Facilites Supervisor.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems/TMS.
  • Ability to use experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Monitoring and Control in conformity with pertinent facility policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Accountable for specific tasks assigned within scope of work and their successful completion
  • Other duties as assigned.
