Job summary

Lake Behavioral Hospital in Waukegan, IL seeks a Hospital Maintenance Technician for a full-time day shift. You will perform painting, plumbing, electrical tasks and inspections of physical plant equipment, with preventive maintenance and light janitorial duties under minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate has a High school diploma (or equivalent) and experience with hand/power tools, basic mechanical engineering, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; two years of technical/trade school preferred.
• Experience with hand/power tools and basic mechanical engineering.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of the physical plant within two weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks such as painting and touch-up work, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, and inspections of the hospital.
• Performs minor painting, patching, and touch-ups on walls, doors, trim, and common areas.
• Clean and change air filters, kitchen grease traps and stove hood filters.
• Dispose of infectious/contaminated waste from the hospital.
• Maintain hospital grounds in a neat and attractive appearance.
• Maintain light fixtures and change bulbs as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance electrical tests and repair of mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Comply with infection control, OSHA regulations, and safety/risk management policies.
