Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a General Service Technician - Mechanic for per-diem coverage. You will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install hospital building systems and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, CMMS experience, OSHA familiarity, and a valid driver's license; technical/trade training is preferred. Prior experience in maintenance programs and preventive care is advantageous.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school apprenticeship preferred.
• At least three years of experience in construction, commercial, industrial, or facilities operations.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations; forklift, lock-out/tag-out, confined space training or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install hospital building systems and mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, electric motors, generators, air compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Read blueprints and schematics; diagnose root causes and minimize downtime.
• Respond to routine and emergency maintenance needs; work independently or with a team.
