Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Fireman to perform a wide range of hospital facilities maintenance. The role requires multi-craft mechanical ability, independent problem solving, and strong HVAC, electrical, and plumbing knowledge to support patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include responding to urgent maintenance calls, coordinating with the Lead Mechanic, and maintaining equipment and systems of the facility in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent education required; trade school preferred.
• 5 years in a hospital or similar environment.
• Extensive mechanical experience across multiple crafts; able to work without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients, patients.
• Perform maintenance of hospital buildings, mechanical systems and equipment.
• Respond to calls for urgent maintenance and plan corrective actions.
• Cooperate with maintenance team and supervise helpers when needed.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and ensure patient safety.
