Job summary

Avera DeSmet Memorial Hospital in De Smet, SD is seeking a PRN Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment. You will handle plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and electrical work while monitoring steam and air systems and supporting safety programs.

Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, coordinating with contractors, and maintaining logs and records.

Responsibilities

• Performs building inspections, replaces parts, cleans, and oversees heating, plumbing, outdoor grounds, landscaping, and snow/ice removal.
• Performs carpentry and maintenance work including painting, remodeling, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Maintains and repairs equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, kitchen equipment, furniture, and office equipment on schedule or as requested.
• Monitors, operates, inspects, repairs, tests, and cleans equipment for steam or chilled water systems and air handling devices.
• Keeps work orders, priorities, and logs; maintains neat, orderly work areas.
• Implements preventative maintenance; creates PM schedules and maintains servicing records.
• Responds to facility emergencies, conducts drills, and enforces PPE and safety policies.
• Removes equipment, trash, and hazardous waste per regulations; maintains waste records.
• Coordinates with contractors and vendors to ensure timely, thorough completion of contracted work.
• May perform other tasks such as off-site errands, transport, deliveries, light housekeeping, inventory, and parts ordering.
