Job summary

Crane Memorial Hospital is seeking a dependable PRN Maintenance Technician to support routine repairs, preventive maintenance, groundskeeping, and general facility needs across hospital properties.

The role involves basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC tasks, with coordination of specialized vendors as needed. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in general building, property, or facility maintenance is preferred.
• Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, landscaping, HVAC, or general repairs is preferred.
• Hospital or healthcare facility maintenance experience is a plus.
• Ability to recognize when licensed or specialized service is required.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across hospital facilities and district properties.
• Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
• Identify and address problems in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other systems.
• Coordinate with vendors when specialized work is needed.
• Maintain grounds, parking areas, and exterior areas in safe, presentable condition.
• Record maintenance work, inspections, and vendor visits.
• Follow safety, infection control, and PPE requirements.
• Assist with emergencies and urgent maintenance needs as assigned.

Crane Memorial Hospital is seeking a dependable PRN Maintenance Technician. This position will assist with routine repairs, preventive maintenance, groundskeeping, and general facility needs to help keep hospital property safe and functional.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the hospital, rural health clinic, physical therapy clinic, employee housing, outbuildings, and other District-owned property.
• Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, door, lock, and general building repairs.
• Identify problems involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, generator, medical gas, refrigeration, and other building systems.
• Contact and coordinate with approved service companies or vendors when repairs require specialized knowledge, licensing, or equipment.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, work orders, and safety checks.
• Maintain hospital grounds, landscaping, the helipad, parking areas, and exterior areas in a safe and presentable condition.
• Assist with the upkeep of District vehicles, tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Maintain basic records of completed maintenance work, inspections, repairs, and vendor visits.
• Safely use and maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
• Follow hospital safety requirements, infection-prevention practices, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Respond to routine maintenance requests while minimizing disruption to patients, employees, and hospital operations.
• Assist with facility-related emergencies, utility interruptions, and other urgent maintenance needs as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience performing general building, property, or facility maintenance preferred.
• Experience with basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, landscaping, HVAC systems, or general repairs preferred.
• Hospital or other healthcare facility maintenance experience is a plus.
• Ability to recognize when a repair requires a licensed or specialized service provider.
• Ability to safely operate common maintenance tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety information, equipment manuals, and work orders.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff, administration, vendors, and contractors.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders and access mechanical rooms, utility areas, rooftops, crawlspaces, and outdoor work areas when necessary.
• Ability to safely operate tools and equipment and visually inspect buildings, grounds, and facility systems.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed throughout hospital and clinic facilities, mechanical and utility areas, grounds, vehicles, employee housing, and other District property. The position may involve exposure to equipment noise, dust, cleaning or maintenance chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and patient-care environments.This is a temporary PRN position, with hours scheduled as needed to provide coverage during the Maintenance Director’s absence. Availability outside regular business hours may occasionally be requested for urgent facility needs.
