Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso seeks a General Maintenance Mechanic to ensure continuous operation of hospital utilities, including HVAC, steam, water treatment, and emergency backup systems.

The role involves installing, troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical equipment, following safety protocols, and using blueprints and MSDS information as needed. A four-year related work background and trade-specific licensure are preferred.

Qualifications

• Four years related work experience.
• Certified or licensed in plumbing, pipefitting, welding or boilers preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved trade school course or trade apprenticeship in plant operations and maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains continuity of service for hospital utilities and equipment, including heating, cooling, steam, gas, water treatment, and emergency backup systems.
• Installs, troubleshoots and repairs complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems with minimal supervision.
• Observes safety regulations and maintains safety and fire equipment.
• Works with varied tasks and demonstrates ability to read blueprints and follow technical instructions.
