Job summary

Covenant Health's Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge seeks an Assistant Manager, Engineering to supervise maintenance and engineering operations, including buildings, grounds, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and more, ensuring safe, efficient plant performance.

You will work with the Director of Engineering, oversee staff, manage projects and costs, coordinate with hospital departments, and drive preventive maintenance programs while complying with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Four to six (4-6) years of progressive maintenance experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of all power plant operations.
• Familiarity with computers and computer operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, efficient operation of the hospital's physical plant and utilities.
• Assume responsibility for maintenance of all buildings, grounds and distribution systems.
• Inspect equipment on a routine basis for quality assurance and fire/safety issues.
• Assist in supervising construction/remodeling projects and manage project costs.
• Order materials and negotiate pricing with vendors.
• Maintain a well-arranged storeroom with an adequately stocked inventory.
• Make work assignments to personnel to optimize effectiveness.
• Conduct performance appraisals and counsel employees per contract.
• Train new employees in repair and maintenance methods.
• Evaluate and suggest department improvements to the Director of Engineering.
• Maintain an accurate preventive maintenance program.
• Coordinate with other department managers to meet needs.
• Prepare equipment incident reports for Safety and Risk Management quarterly.
• Serve as team leader or facilitator for QT teams.
• Prioritize workloads and schedules to complete tasks timely.
• Review reports related to incineration, preventive maintenance, boiler operation, and medical gas levels.
• Follow safety standards; complete required education and QA initiatives.
• Remain alert and focused under stress and manage time effectively.
• Provide safe, efficient, competent care to population assigned and meet MMC Environment of Care Standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
