Job summary

Hillsboro Medical Center is seeking an Operating Engineer to operate and maintain hospital facilities on assigned shifts. The role includes maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, and implementing corrective actions to restore equipment to standards.

The candidate will perform routine, preventive, and reactive maintenance, manage work orders, and ensure safety protocols are followed. Experience in hospital settings, LME licensing, and a valid driver's license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two+ years experience in hospital or similar facility performing mechanical maintenance.
• Oregon LME license in progress or enrollment within 120 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving history per policy.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine, preventive, and reactive maintenance as assigned.
• Uses a database to manage work orders and ensure standards.
• Communicates effectively with customers and reports status to supervisor.
• Operates steam plant equipment and HVAC/ventilating systems safely.
• Completes documentation logs and forms; troubleshoots mechanical/electrical equipment.
