Job summary

nshs is seeking an Environmental Services Technician II to maintain a clean, safe, and infection-free hospital environment. You will perform cleaning of patient rooms and public areas, following infection control protocols, while maintaining stocked supplies and reporting issues to supervisors.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of healthcare environmental services experience; CIC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Required
• 1 year of environmental services or housekeeping experience, healthcare setting preferred
• CIC certification preferred (CBIC)

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, public areas, and staff workspaces following hospital protocols.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces to prevent infection spread.
• Maintain an organized and stocked cleaning cart.
• Adhere to infection control guidelines and best practices to minimize HAIs.
• Follow isolation procedures when cleaning rooms of contagious patients.
• Report safety hazards or infection control breaches to supervisor.
• Safely collect, transport, and dispose of medical waste and trash per policy.
• Monitor and replace biohazard and sharps containers as needed.
• Assist in training new Environmental Services Technicians as required.
