Job summary

Penn Medicine in Philadelphia is seeking a Service Technician to keep hospital areas aseptically clean and orderly, including patient rooms, offices, treatment and utility spaces. You will work a day shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM and support the hospital's mission through diligent cleaning and upkeep.

The role requires a high school diploma and up to one year of institutional cleaning experience. You will interact with patients, visitors and staff, report equipment malfunctions, and help

Qualifications

• Req H.S. Diploma/GED general
• Pref 0-1 years experience in institutional cleaning

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned areas with hospital approved germicidal detergent, supplies and equipment: sweeping, dusting, mopping, buffing, scrubbing and stripping floors.
• Washes walls, light fixtures, sills, banisters, baseboards, door, etc. in rooms, offices and elevators. Polishes brass and stainless as required
• Reports and malfunctions in mechanical equipment, i.e., beds, lights, etc., and any broken or scratched walls, doors, or furniture to supervisor.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors and all levels of hospital personnel.
• Moves furniture. Pushes or pulls loaded or empty carts.
• Collects and disposes of trash; cleans and disinfect trash receptacles.
• Damp dusts furniture; applies stain type polish and hand buffs furniture; arranges furniture in predetermined manner.
• Cleans and makes up unoccupied beds as necessary.
• Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, including sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, bathroom tile, etc.
• Cleans and disinfects isolation rooms, including ceilings, lights, walls, floors, furniture and entire bathrooms; collects isolation linen and/or trash.
• Maintains equipment at an acceptable level of cleanliness to include maintenance of janitorial cart and/or janitorial closet.
• May work on varying shift schedule
