Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) is seeking a housekeeping team member to maintain clean and sanitary hospital areas under direct supervision. Duties include cleaning, organizing supplies, and assisting with discharge room prep to ensure patient comfort and safety.

The role requires the ability to work well in a team, greet patients and staff courteously, and follow departmental policies while delivering timely cleaning services across assigned areas.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work under time constraints.
• Ability to courteously greet and exchange information with patients, visitors and staff while performing housekeeping tasks.
• Demonstrates competency in patient and workplace safety as it relates to job duties.

Responsibilities

• Assembles necessary cleaning supplies and equipment; loads utility cart and transports to work areas as directed.
• Cleans assigned areas by performing housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, and polishing; inspects area for cleanliness.
• Prepares cleaning solutions according to label instructions.
• Performs routine discharge room cleaning and remakes beds with fresh linen as prescribed.
• Notifies team leader of needed maintenance repairs.
• Cleans and stores equipment regularly in the porter closet or assigned storage area.
• Logs on and off Interserv per GBMC policy and logs tasks accordingly.
