Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking an Environmental Services Worker to support patient cleanliness and safety across hospital and campus sites.

The role involves cleaning patient rooms, public areas, handling infectious waste, and coordinating with hospital staff while using PPE and following safety protocols.

Preferred: High School Diploma or GED and 1 year hospital housekeeping experience; training provided for cleaning procedures and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year housekeeping or environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and operating equipment after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide housekeeping in patient rooms and assigned areas within the hospital and campuses; exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
• Clean and disinfect public areas (vacuuming, baseboards, vents, fans, elevators).
• Disinfect isolation rooms (TB, C-Diff, COVID-19) and manage waste disposal.
• Exchange full sharp boxes for empties.
• Deliver clean linen exchange carts and maintain orderly utility rooms.
• Perform other environmental services duties as assigned.
