Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group is seeking an Environmental Supervisor to lead the Environmental Services team at our Dubuque facility. You will guide daily operations, ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to Joint Commission standards, and support staff through training and development.

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, you will schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff, handle disciplinary actions when needed, and coordinate supplies, room setups, and inspections to maintain

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in environmental services, including 1–2 years in a leadership/supervisory role; hospital setting preferred.
• Formalized training in environmental cleaning programs and safety methodology.
• Knowledge of proper and safe chemical use and handling.
• Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and department software (HealthStream, Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision for the Environmental Services department to ensure teamwork, safety, and quality.
• Serve as role-model and resource for staff on procedural matters; act as working supervisor.
• Plan, assign, and monitor colleague work performance; schedule staff and handle evaluations.
• Assist with hiring, scheduling, placement, training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Monitor staff workload, adjust staffing to changing demands, and oversee room set-ups and routine inspections.
• Ensure equipment is safe and maintained; coordinate repairs as needed; oversee daily hospital housekeeping tasks.
