Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Dubuque is seeking an Environmental Supervisor to lead the Environmental Services team in a busy hospital setting. Under the Director of Environmental Services, you will plan, assign and monitor work, ensure safety, cleanliness and compliance with Joint Commission standards, and handle scheduling and training for staff.

This role requires 3–5 years in environmental services with 1–2 years in leadership and a valid driver’s license; an associate degree is preferred for

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in environmental services/housekeeping with 1–2 years in a leadership/supervisory role; hospital setting preferred.
• Formalized training in environmental cleaning programs and safety methodology preferred.
• Knowledge of proper and safe chemical use and handling.
• General computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook, internet/intranet) helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision for the Environmental Services department to ensure effective teamwork and a safe work environment.
• Serve as a role model and resource for staff on procedural matters; act as working supervisor.
• Plan, assign and monitor colleague work performance; manage staffing and scheduling.
• Oversee orientation and training, conduct evaluations, and support disciplinary actions as needed.
• Ensure equipment is safe, clean and in proper working condition; request repairs as necessary.
