Corewell Health in Grand Rapids is seeking a leader to manage the Environmental Services Department, ensuring a sanitary, attractive, safe, and orderly hospital environment. The role plans budgets, directs staff, and coordinates supplies for cleaning equipment and materials.

The incumbent will oversee scheduling, quality standards, and policy development to improve infection prevention and departmental performance, while maintaining annual operating budgets and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Healthcare Management, Business or related field.
• 3 years of relevant experience managing an environmental services function in the health care industry.
• Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Spectrum Health.

Responsibilities

• Manages those who schedule, assign and distribute work among department employees. Ensures department work assignments are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Establishes and communicates quality standards for designated services and programs; implements procedures to measure quality.
• Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of the hospital and recommends repairs, furnishings, or equipment relocation.
• Conducts research to improve environmental services technology; evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment and makes recommendations.
• Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures to maximize infection prevention and control.
• Arranges for supply of housekeeping material, equipment and related items to permit proper performance of services.
• Manages activities of staff, facilitates training, and provides direction to ensure effectiveness; selects, trains, develops, evaluates, and initiates personnel actions.
• Develops and maintains the department's annual operating budgets and ensures operations stay within guidelines.
