Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton is seeking a dedicated housekeeping team member to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff. This on-site Day Shift role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow department policies and procedures.

The position involves cleaning duties, supply maintenance, bed-making, and safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Training is provided, with a supportive team in a high-quality care setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Experience with vacuums and commercial laundry equipment is preferred.
• Basic phone and computer skills (email, texting).

Responsibilities

• Performs basic tasks according to highly specific departmental policies and procedures in order to maintain an aseptic, clean, and attractive environment for the hospital.
• Spot cleans walls, windows, furniture, and carpets.
• Disinfects sinks, tubs, mirrors, toilets, urinals using proper disinfecting techniques.
• Maintains adequate supply of soap, towels, toilet tissue, and other necessary items.
• Makes beds; sorts and distributes linens.
• Cleans and sanitizes all horizontal and lateral surfaces throughout the facility.
• Offers suggestions to improve work methods or procedures and participates in the quality improvement process.
• Utilizes cleaning chemicals properly and safely in accordance with department guidelines.
• Keeps housekeeping carts and vacuums clean and in good working order.
• Reports repairs or the need for replacements and follows up to ensure that the repairs meet facility standards.
