Job summary

United Hospital Services seeks a dependable driver to transport clean and soiled linen to hospitals in the Davis area. You will load, weigh, and deliver materials according to schedule, while keeping your truck clean and compliant with DOT regulations.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid chauffeur’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds with occasional handling of carts up to 700 pounds. Uniforms are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh and deliver clean linen to customers and pick up soiled linen from hospitals.
  • Assist shipping clerk by weighing linen carts until hospital load is ready.
  • Load truck and verify bills for number of carts.
  • Deliver linen to customers according to posted schedule.
  • Remove soiled carts from hospitals and return them to the plant.
  • Keep truck clean and perform basic maintenance checks; comply with DOT regulations.

Job Summary:
Drives truck to transport materials to and from hospitals by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Weigh and deliver clean linen to our customers, pick up soil linen and return it to the plant.
  • Assisting shipping clerk by weighing linen carts until the hospital load is ready.
  • Loading truck and checking billing for proper number of carts.
  • Delivering linen to customers according to posted schedule.
  • Removing soil carts from hospitals and returning them to the plant.
  • Keep truck clean and neat, both cab and box.
  • Comply with all laws by following all pertinent DOT regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree ( GED ); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience .

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions , and procedure manuals . Ability to write routine reports and correspondence . Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization . ,

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions , proportions , percentages, area, circumference, and volume . Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry .

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written , oral, or diagram form . Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations .

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Possession of valid chauffeur’s license .

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job , the employee is frequently required to sit . The employee is occasionally required to stand ; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel ; each with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel , crouch , or crawl; and talk or hear . The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds . Pulling carts that weight up to 700 lbs . Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision , peripheral vision , and depth perception .
